What We Believe: The Beauty of the Catholic Faith, Study Set
Discover the Amazing Riches of the Catholic Faith
What is the Catholic Church all about? What does it mean to be Catholic? What do Catholics actually believe?
The Catholic Church is extraordinary. Founded by Christ himself, the Catholic Church is where we encounter God in his Word, his sacraments, and his saints. The Church faithfully proclaims the fullness of faith, leaving no truth out. It proclaims the fullness of life, leaving no person out. It calls all to repent and to believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the source of all life and salvation.
Maybe you’ve been Catholic your entire life. Maybe you’re just beginning to explore the Catholic Faith. Wherever you may be in your journey, you will be profoundly moved by the beauty and the richness of the Catholic Church.
Written and presented by Marcellino D’Ambrosio and Andrew and Sarah Swafford, What We Believe: The Beauty of the Catholic Faith was filmed on location in Rome. In it you will discover:
- What Catholics truly believe
- Who Catholics truly are and how we are called to live
- The blessings of Creation, redemption, and newness of life in the Holy Spirit
- The profound gift of the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of our Faith
- How to imitate Christ through prayer, through personal conversion, and through love for others
- And more!

I have enjoyed this study. It has given me a lot more information to think about. We still have one more lesson to go; it has given me more insight to my faith and to the Creed.
Overall, the book and the workbook are put together very well and are informative for both lifelong and new/convert Catholics. 3 stars for the review however as, firstly, only one year access only to the videos is somewhat unfortunate if it is a programme you wish to repeat with others. With regard to the videos, I feel that they were something of a missed opportunity. I think more travalogue scene setting around Rome could have been used with narrative on top. There are hints of this. Generally, we largely have the three presenters just talking to each other in various settings and not addressing the viewer directly. It creates something of an "exclusion" effect.
"What We Believe" is a wonderful Bible Study. Our Catholic faith is so rich and beautiful and there is always more to learn. This is a great study for everyone, no matter where you are on your faith journey.
I took this course with others at my parish to learn more about why I am Catholic. As an adult I didn't want to answer questions about my faith with "well that's what I was taught to believe". Attending Catholic school for 12 years was a great basis for my faith but as an adult I needed more answers for people who asked why I believe in God. Marcellino is the kind of person I can learn from and having the video portions of this study on site take me to places that inspire my learning. Andrew and Sarah Swafford were an excellent complement as the multiple perspectives of these three presenters kept me engaged throughout. If you want to learn more about your faith, and why you believe it provides the greatest path to redemption, this is an excellent resource. Both the book and the video, along with our discussion groups, has been a wonderful way to learn!
This was one of the best studies that I have done as of yet. I learned so much about my Catholic Faith. Our priest did this as a Bible study during lent. I can't recommend this enough! It was excellent and understandable! Quite enjoyable! It went along nicely with the Catechism in a Year program.
Thank you!!
