This is my new favorite Bible! I recently purchased the Great Adventure Bible following your special offer to teachers. Since I had already been following the Bible in a Year podcast, I'm so glad to be able to follow along. I like the translation: it's close enough to what we hear at liturgy to be familiar and different enough to be thought-provoking without seeming strange. I love the layout, the colored edges for finding your place, the unique placement of footnotes. Thank you so much for this Bible. Prayers for all at Ascension for your continued outreach!
I am so glad that I finally purchased this Bible. I love the way it is laid out, the maps, timeliness, etc. I know that it will enhance my daily reading.
This is my first time attempting to actually read the bible and I'm enjoying it. Especially following along with Father Mike Schmitz as he reads The Great Adventure Bible on his Bible in a Year podcast. When I tried reading the Bible on my own, I had a hard time following it, but at the end of each episode, Father Mike goes over the reading and explains it in more detail which has CERTAINLY helped me understand everything better. One of the biggest reasons I decided to write this review however, is in response to the negative reviews about how Father Mikes reading on the podcast doesn't match the text. While I've noticed that he may miss a word from time to time, rarely I might add, it really isn't the way people have made it out to seem. I think he's done a fantastic job and his videos on YouTube are the reason I decided to start this journey in the first place, so, thank you Father Mike Schmitz!
I have ordered five additional copies as gifts for family and friends, that is how much I love this Bible.
I love the feel of this Bible, it is soft and supple. I've purchased, and installed, the accompanying index tabs and appreciate the color coding to align with The Great Adventure. The additional articles and key event notes are awesome, providing a deeper understanding of the Story of Salvation.
The only suggestion I would make is to include an introduction to each book and, maybe, a topical index.
I love this Bible and fr Mike. I now understand what the Bible is all about. I recommend everyone buy this Bible and listen to fr Mike read it and explain it. The Bible in a year podcast is great.
