The Online Leader’s Certification is a six-session course that offers support for leaders to quickly and easily train their team to deliver both First Reconciliation and First Communion preparation. Your team will receive inspiration and guidance to build up their spirits to take on this important work. They’ll receive practical guidance on what to expect and how to respond to typical situations that are likely to arise. In the end, your team will come away with an increased sense of confidence and enthusiasm to serve the children and families in your program.

Presenters Include:

  • Fr. Mike Schmitz
  • Jackie and Bobby Angel
  • Sr. Josephine Garrett
  • Mari Pablo
  • Charleen Katra, the Executive Director of the National Catholic Partnership on Disabilities

Table of Contents

  • Session 1: "Thank You for Saying Yes" - Fr. Mike, Sister Josephine Garrett, Mari Pablo, and Jackie and Bobby Angel welcome and thank you for saying "yes" to being a catechist.
  • Session 2: "Tips and Strategies for Classroom Engagement" - Mari Pablo and Sister Josephine present second graders (seven-to-eight-year-olds). They explain how to engage them in your religious education setting as well as how to prep and manage the learning environment.

  • Session 6: "Don't Forget to Pray" - Mari Pablo concludes by focusing on personal prayer and concrete strategies to avoid burnout.

The kids (and I) LOVE it.

We are homeschoolers and when I found this I knew we had to try it. We have done this course (and the 1st communion one) 3 times each because we enjoyed it so much!!

Loved it

I completed the course and loved the way it was explained. The words that moved me was” we confess and do the penance, where in the back father does a penance for us”

Beautiful and simple

This is a wonderful way to help kids understand the mass and prepares them to better participate in the celebration. My great niece and nephew love it!

Great resource!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed gong through the parent certification! There were a few points that didn’t quite apply to us since we are recent converts from the ACNA, (like the typical view of the sacrament being “hell-avoidance” as opposed to the gift it truly is). Otherwise it was great!
