Donuts After Mass

I received this book and hadn’t got a chance to read it before my nephew found it on my coffee table and got deeply into it. I would hear him laugh as he eagerly read through it. My niece loved it so much she drew pictures of the pages she loved. Once I finally read it myself I could see why they appreciated it so much - Emily is so real and so many of her experiences are feelings I’ve had in prayer. How she always speaks in an unfiltered way to Jesus is beautiful and a reminder that the reality is Jesus is in every instance of our lives and He wants to journey with us in all of it. Beautiful story!

Love this book! Perfect for 10 year olds and up! Adults will be moved as well as children! Love love love this book!

Very realatable for todays world. Loved how the character could talk to Jesus and how Jesus was so invold in her life. My daughter thought the book was very funny as well. I could hear her laughing at some of the situations in the book. Great message to love and forgive others like Chirst would want us to. Thank you for having resorces like this to encourage young lives.

I am pretty sure this is my all time favorite kids book. It is so wonderful and beautiful. It’s so real and so sweet. The little girl Emily has such a real and beautiful relationship with our Lord and it reminds me of myself when I was a kid. Definitely one to buy multiple copies to give to friends.

Great for the young kids who will love the animation AND for the adults who will read it to them. Surprisingly moving! And funny! And thought provoking! Love the "personal relationship with Christ." Love the art! Love Emily! Buying more copies for my grandchildren and for Baptism and First Holy Communion gifts.

I bought the book as a First Communion gift. I did read it I’m anxious to hear how the girl I gave it to enjoyed it. Her parish has donut Sunday once a month so I’m sure she can relate. Walking with Jesus has a powerful message.
The art work was equally enjoyable.

We loved this book, including my 8 year old so much that we bought 5 more for gifts and to place out on the tables and our Parish during Coffee and Doughnuts after mass (with the pastors permission of course). Every time I read a page, I laugh with joy. This book helps adults to find their inner child and is a easy and fun read for 8 years old. Looking forward to a follow up book. We loved this book! My family and I were inspired by the close relationship that Jesus had with the main character, Emily. Donuts After Mass sets an example for people of all ages and gives a unique perspective on how to treat other people with kindness. My daughter thought the book was heartfelt, and it made her reflect on her relationships with her peers and with God. Donuts After Mass reminds readers to love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31), and love the Lord with your whole heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). What an amazing book and definitely a must read!

I was so excited and pleased to receive a copy of DONUTS AFTER MASS, "A Tale About Walking With Jesus." A gift copy was sent to me by the Bradvicas, who were part of our parish family at Saint Rita of Cascia Parish, where they also consumed many "donuts after Mass." But it is the "Tale About a Walk With Jesus" part of the title that cheers my heart as a pastor.
That DONUTS AFTER MASS will end up in the hands of many, many children is an enormous blessing in and of itself, but the wonderful added plus is that it will be read by so many parents, grandparents, and other adults (like this aging retired padre). Why "a pastor's dream" then? Just imagine preaching and counseling Jesus' flock on his declaration: "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." How do you counsel and guide adults in how "to turn and become like children" again? That, I believe is the genius and gift of this book. Carefully read (and especially if read with a child) this becomes that needed "how to book" for adults walking with Jesus--an occasion for profound grace.

My boys loved it. They wanted to keep reading moving on to the next chapter. They thought it was hilarious.

Going in assuming this was a children's book, I quickly realized that its understandable text that is geared to children was also refreshing as an adult. As the book states, we must turn and become like children to enter the kingdom of heaven. What better way than to remember how simple our relationship with Jesus used to be and still could be? He loves us, we love him. I definitely teared up when the main character realized how profoundly Jesus loves her on the cross.

As a former middle/high school retreat director, I see this book being so useful as a kick-start to an in depth lesson about almost any aspect of our faith. Each comic page offers a humorous and meaningful introduction to Catholic topics for small children in CCD or even high school students who may need a little help building that connection. I will definitely be using this as a gift for my God children and friends!

My husband and I love this book! The humor is so lighthearted, but gets across beautiful messages to the readers. I would recommend this to anyone, no matter their age or where they are in their journey of faith. Even as an adult, there were so many moments in the story that made me stop and think and reflect on my own faith. This is absolutely something we will be recommending to friends and family, and we can’t wait to read it with our own children someday!

I really enjoy graphic novels and Donuts After Mass is the first Catholic themed story i’ve come across in this genre. Emily’s experiences are funny, heartwarming and relatable for humans of any age. Her interactions with Jesus are simply inspiring. You will reach for Donuts After Mass again and again to experience its pure joy!

This book is truly perfect for all ages. It is fun, easy to read yet thought provoking. I purchased it for my teen daughter and nieces. It will stir-up conversations, reflections, even for older folks (like me). This book reminds us that a relationship with Jesus does not need to be complicated, it can be simple and profound. With all that is going on in the world, this book comes at a time when children more than ever need to develop a strong relationship with Jesus. I highly recommend this book!!

We love this book! As a Catholic and educator, I am always seeking age-appropriate material to assist in teaching the Gospel. My 8 year old read it cover to cover during a busy family party. He didn’t look up once, even though his cousins tried to distract him. He understood some of the deeper meanings of the cartoons, which made me want to cry. Donuts after Mass provided the opportunity to have great conversations. Plus the follow up guide and prompt discussions continued our talks about Jesus. It was the perfect reading material to reread during Holy Week. I think this book would make an excellent addition to any Sunday School or religious education program. We love this book!

I am so excited to share this book with friends and family, regardless of where they are in their faith journey. Perfect for any age and would make a great gift!!

A great gift for godchildren, family members, as sacrament gifts, or for use in a religious education class (or Catholic school library). Each story in the book is a wonderful jumping-off point for family discussions at the dinner table. This book is a unique gem that teaches everyone a lesson (or many) through relatable scenarios.
