My Bible Study Group is more than half-way through the Hebrews study; and we have thoroughly enjoyed the rich theology and spirituality that is offered in each and every lesson. We have done just about all of the Great Adventure Bible Studies from Ascension Press, and our collective learning experience from all of them has been extraordinary. And this study of Hebrews is yet another transformative experience. The study is powerful in exploring how the author of the Letter to the Hebrews exquisitely explains how Jesus is hidden in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament. We have a new level of understanding how Jesus ushered in the New Covenant; and we love how this study clarifies so much scripture to show us more clearly the treasures of our Catholic faith.
Some people may not fully appreciate Dr. Swafford's style, as he speaks quickly and animates himself to emphasize various thoughts. However, we find him refreshing and astonishing in his knowledge and enthusiasm.
This study packs a lot of information. There is a lot of Old Testament information to draw us up to Jesus; and in that regard, this might not entirely be the best choice for a first Bible Study. I think it presupposes some knowledge of the Old Testament. And although it is excellent, maybe it should follow the Bible Timeline.
I am amazed at how many of my lingering confusions about the ushering in of the New Covenant have been pretty much cleared up as a result of this study.
