The January 2026 anniversary was my 3rd time listening to BIY. I have learned how beautiful the Bible is and so much about what it teaches us because of Fr. Mike. He's blessed with incredible faith, intellect and wry humor. I've never met a priest like him.
The CIY is very challenging for me because the church authors chose to write this important information using MANY unfamiliar words that I have to research (despite Fr. Mike's best efforts). My personal view is the Catechism is written for theology students, bishops, cardinals, priests or those studying to be priests, religious sisters and perhaps others who have been educated in Catholic schools and universities. I do not enjoy reading literature that I must constantly look up meanings. I do not want the Catechism to be "data" that i must learn and remember. I want it to be transformational for me. This is the only reason for 4 stars.

This is my second year with listening to Bible in a year and started listening to the Catechism in a year. I have enjoyed learning about my religion I've always wanted to learn and read the Bible and this has been amazing. Then listening to the Imitayion of Christ helped me through difficulties in my marriage and life experiences. Thank you Father Mike and the Assension app.
I was not brought up as Catholic, and was not sure of listening to the Bible of the year podcast because of that. However, I'm glad I did. Father Mike was very good with drawing all people of different faith. I figured if you believe Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, why should any of that matter. I learned a lot this year with Father Mike the way he explains what we read. That's what brought me in. I needed someone to explain the Bible as we read it. Thank you so much for lncluding all us in, not just Catholics. to share our faith. I prayed for Father Mike as he said he prayed for us.
I am not Catholic. I am Methodist. Finding out there are 77 books in the Catholic bible kind of threw me!
I have never read the Bible from beginning to end. I am fascinated with the ‘backstory’ Fr. Mike provides. It has made the Bible so much more!!
