What Will You Do for Love?

What are you willing to do for someone you love? Very often, love requires us to make sacrifices and experience difficulties. Such is the case with prayer so often. In order to have time with God in prayer, we may need to make sacrifices. Fr. Josh shares what these sacrifices may look like and why it is so worth it.

Snippet from the Show

Why must we make sacrifices for prayer?

Saint Story: St. John Vianney (14:50)

St. John Vianny was born in Dardilly, France in 1786. He was raised in a Catholic family and had a strong relationship with Jesus starting at a young age. After being drafted into Napoleon’s army and then later deserting, John Vianney went to seminary. He struggled greatly with his studies but persevered and was ordained a priest.

He was assigned pastor of a parish in Ars, France. At the beginning of his time there, he was not welcomed into the community and struggled with preaching. However, he trusted in the Lord and again persevered. His homilies got better and the community grew in faithfulness. However, perhaps most impressive was the amount of time he would spend in the confessional. He would sometimes listen to confessions for over 11 hours in one day.

In 1859, Fr. John Vianney passed away. He was canonized in 1925.
