The Weight of the Sacraments
Share
How important are the sacraments? Are they just steps in the Christian life or do they bear a lot more weight in our journey towards salvation? Mike Gormley and Dave VanVickle continue their series on Mystagogy by addressing the importance of the sacraments. They discuss the mystery of the sacraments and why they are truly a matter of life and death.
Snippet from the Show
The sacraments are a matter of life and death: eternal life and eternal death.
Preparing for Mass
Participating well in Mass typically starts with preparing well for Mass. This may look different from person to person, but most often it includes reading the readings for Mass and meditating on them. It is also wise to diminish as much noise and distractions prior to Mass as possible. For you, this might mean abstaining from music in the car or checking the news on your phone that morning. Whatever it is, figure out how to place yourself in the presence of God before you even arrive at church for Mass.
The Order of the Mass
Read through the order of the Mass. Pray with it. As you read through it, allow yourself to wonder and ask questions. You can learn more here.
