- Don’t try to evangelize someone in one sitting. Don’t make it seem like you are desperate to advance your agenda.
- Establish trust and build bridges. Surrender the conversation and individuals you are trying to reach to God. Make sure you prioritize building the relationship rather than winning arguments. Love your neighbor as yourself!
- Ask intentional questions and listen. Stay away from inflammatory statements. Ask people what they care about. Make sure you show them that you genuinely care about them even though they may not agree with you. Keep the lines of communication open!
- Make notes and follow-up so that next time you talk to them you can bring up things they talked about earlier. This shows that you were listening to their story and authentically care about what they shared with you.
