Question (5:03)

It is clear that we need to know how to love our spouses. However, it doesn’t always seem obvious how to love my husband. So, how do husbands typically want to be loved?

Saint Story: Blessed Seraphina Sforza (20:25)

Seraphina Sforza was born in Italy in 1434. Her parents died when she was young and she grew up in her uncle’s house. She seemed to have an inclination to religious life but instead entered an arranged marriage with a widower, Prince Alexander Sforza. She was a very devoted wife and stepmother.

Unfortunately, Prince Alexander was called away for military duty. He was away for six years. In that time, Seraphina remained faithful to her husband and her responsibilities at home. Prince Alexander, however, fell into infidelity. When he returned home, he brought his mistress with him.

Unable to find peace in his choices while his wife was around, Prince Alexander brought Seraphina to a Poor Clare monastery and insisted the nuns take her in.

It is unclear how Seraphina was allowed to live within the Poor Clares since she was still a married woman. However, she devoted herself to the life. Seraphina died in 1478.
