The Received: Your Journey to First Communion Student Pack provides all of the resources a student needs to use Received. It contains:
- The Student Workbook is seamlessly integrated with the videos and includes 12 lessons with hands-on activities, prayers, saint connections, main teaching content, Visio Divina, Bible stories, car conversation, take-home activities, discussion questions, and more.
- The Parent's Guide offers a simple way for parents to be involved in their child's formation and accompany their child throughout First Communion preparation. Each lesson in the child's workbook has a corresponding section in the Parent's Guide.
- The Receiving Jesus: My Guide to the Mass take-with-you book helps children become comfortable going to Mass by showing them not only when to sit, stand, and kneel and what to say but also why we do the things we do at Mass. They’ll learn about the roles of the different people they see at Mass, like the ushers, lectors, cantors, deacons, and priests. This is the perfect book for them to bring to Mass!
- The Online Access gives students 24/7 access to a digital version of the Student Workbook as well as all of the student videos. Students will enjoy the convenience of always having access to their materials anytime and anywhere they have internet access.

I did not look forward to taking this course and getting a certificate - just so our 2nd grader could complete her first Reconciliation. I was very surprised how much I as a cradle Catholic, was shown a different way of looking at "confession". I was very moved by the presentation of the different individual presenters. AND I learned a lot to pass on not only to the 2nd grader but to her older and younger siblings and cousins. I truly appreciated this course and the insight I have gained from it.
For any Catholic parent, this course can be a valuable investment in both personal and family spirituality. It provides helpful teachings that empower parents to confidently navigate the challenges of raising children in the faith and transform their families into more God-loving. This course serves as a powerful reminder of the family’s purpose and offers practical wisdom to live it out daily. I particularly enjoyed the videos, especially since I’m an auditory learner. The course personally moved me.
I think this course is good to do because if parents take it to heart it makes the sacrament a big deal vs just going through the motions. I think it’s easy to fall into the trap of ‘well this is just the next step’ vs feeling so lucky and grateful to be given this gift.
We are homeschoolers and when I found this I knew we had to try it. We have done this course (and the 1st communion one) 3 times each because we enjoyed it so much!!
