This was a great overview of church history. It worked well for my homeschooled granddaughter as an introduction to the history of the Church. I appreciated the periodic quick reviews to make sure the watcher is on the current page of the story. The content is excellent and easy to understand and follow. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is not content but the DVD's. When a session finishes the disc goes to the first session on the disc (there are two on each disc with a periodic review) so I have to keep track of which session we are on. It got a little frustrating and we duplicated a couple of session beginnings before I began writing it down. Just a minor thing but it is a little bit of a pain. For content the series is fantastic and does not gloss over the bad parts but talks of them as a negative part of our history but a part we need to face and understand how it happened. The instructor also looks at certain events from both sides of the event and this was great for dialogue on how what we do is perceived by all sides. The discussion of the Crusades was one of the best I have heard to date and was balanced. The discussion of the Pope issues was also very balanced and presented several sides to a difficult issue and, most importantly, how the Catholic Church overcame and continued with God's will. Overall great videos with great information and great presentation. Would recommend for groups or homeschool (how we use it).
