Learn a proven system to understand the Bible in just 48 pages.

This compact book was the result of a collaboration between Fr. Mike Schmitz, Jeff Cavins, and Ascension to explain in clear, concise language:

  • What the Bible Timeline system is
  • How both Fr. Mike Schmitz and Jeff Cavins have used it to form the their understanding of the Bible
  • How every Bible reader can do the same.

First, readers hear the story of how Jeff Cavins invented the Bible Timeline learning system—what pain points drove him, and how he resolved them.

Then, readers will learn how to actually use that system—the same system Fr. Mike Schmitz used as the basis for Bible in a Year—in their own reading.

Next, readers will learn how to use lectio divina to engage with God's Word on a deeper spiritual level.

Finally, the book highlights the ways this system is woven into the Bible in a Year podcast, the Great Adventure Bible, and other resources for those looking to learn more about the Bible.

A Short Guide to the Bible

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this selection by Ascension. It was very helpful in that the book explains the timeline whose objective is to reveal the events of the Bible in a manner the reader could better understand the sequence of the events.
I have read the Bible in the past, however, did not appreciate its true value. This book not only addressed all my concerns and apprehensions, it also enlightened me to love reading the sacred scriptures each and every day.
Thank you Ascension and Fr. Mike, who makes reading the Bible a time I look forward to daily.

Not worth it

If you follow Fr.Mike and Jeff Cavins then this book not worth it.
On a positive note, it’s nice to have this information in one place.

Hi Maria, you're right, this book is an introduction for people who are new to the Great Adventure system—it's nothing new for people who are already familiar with that approach. Hopefully you find the content worth more than one star for those who are not as familiar with the Great Adventure as you are

A Short Guide to the Bible

It's amazing, all my life I grew up being taught, read 1 book at a time and one right after the other. The method that Jeff Cavins put together is awesome and helps you get through the book easier with a better understanding. I believe it won't work with a regular bible it has to be THE GREAT ADVENTURE BIBLE. That bible already has it broken down where with a regular bible you have to search for the books in the bible to match them with the psalms, etc.

I guess I need to be The Great Adventure Bible to do this logically and easily.

Must Have Tool for Scripture Study

This small, concise book is excellent. It provides accurate and "eye-opening" information about where, how, and when books of the Bible fit into the story of Salvation. It is an excellent companion to use during and after completing "The Bible Timeline" study series. If you haven't experienced "The Bible Timeline" study series then this book will assist in understanding the Bible so that lay people can grow in their knowledge of Scripture. This book has become a major "tool" I use when studying Scripture as it is easy to navigate and use.

Excellent Book

Small book, big message. It’s a short description of how The Great Adventure Bible Timeline Study is organized. Very good for those who have no experience with the study and want to know more. Thank you Jeff Cavins for all you do!
