6 Ways to Help You Start Single-Tasking
Think about how you wake up.
Do you reach for your phone and start checking messages first thing in the morning? Stop doing that! Start your day caring for yourself, connecting with God and with your family in meaningful ways instead.
Write down your priorities.
You can do this in a very detailed way (like described in the book A Mother’s Rule of Life by Holly Pierlot) or simply write a list for yourself. Compare these priorities with the things you actually spend time on each day, and then make adjustments as needed.
Manage your notifications.
Does your phone or inbox send you information you don’t want or need? Stuff that distracts you from the things you really want to be doing? Change that! Adjust your settings, unsubscribe from emails, or just put your devices away so that you are in control of what you pay attention to.
Learn to say no.
This is an art form and so hard for so many women to do! Learn to stand up for yourself and how to say no to things that are not a priority for you so that you can focus on the things that are more important.
Declutter your living and work spaces.
All that stuff piled up around you is a stress-inducer and a huge distraction! Clear off counters and clean up your desk so that you won't have dozens of random items pulling you away from your work and conversations.
Prioritize people.
What people did God place in your life for you to love? Your husband, kids, friends, roommates, co-workers or neighbors? These people are more important than things. Make sure to prioritize the people in your life over things and accomplishments.
