9 Ways to Be More Creative

1. Rethink what is creative.

From cooking to dance, to creating spreadsheets and making music, there are so many ways to create!

2. Try free-writing.

This is an exercise that can help open up your mind to new thoughts and ideas. Writing without rules allows space for the creative process.

3. Take a course.

Whether on YouTube or Udemy or in a real classroom, there are so many options for learning more about creative activities.

4. Think while you exercise.

Your mind can be more open to new ideas while your body is active. Take a walk or go for a run to think up some creative ideas.

5. Change your surroundings.

Going to see a new place, talking to new people, or experiencing something different can open your mind up to new possibilities.

6. Get in touch with your inner child.

Kids are naturally carefree and creative. Think of some way you used to enjoy creativity as a child, and try that again, channeling your younger self.

7. Incorporate breaks in your day.

Break up your work so that you have regular breaks., Creativity is stifled when you try to slog through long work sessions.

8. Hang out with others!

Do you know creative people? Hang out with them and talk about the things they are passionate about. This might spark some ideas of your own.

9. Listen to music.

Music is a powerful way to set a mood, open your mind, relax your thoughts, and focus your efforts. Experiment with different genres and see what works for you!
