The Right Way to Be Single
Share
Yes, there is a unique joy that comes with being single if you do it the right way.
Kim Zember talks about her relationship with God and how it has not only brought her joy in singlehood—but has also made her desire celibacy.
We’re not talking about a joy fueled by the hope and anticipation of finding the man or woman of your dreams, or the joy in the search. We’re talking about being joyfully single and not looking, really being single and happy right where you’re at.
God can satisfy the longings of your heart. This is what has led so many people to take vows of celibacy. Kim says it’s about a calling. Seek first the kingdom of God, then you can’t go wrong. God is not going to keep you from what he wants—and ultimately what you want—for your life. Be content abiding in God.
The culture says you will only be happy if you’re living together and having sex. But intimacy is not always about sex. If it were, we would have no intimacy with Christ.
What are you called to? If you are called to be single, it is possible to have joy in an intimate relationship with God. This is a deep and lasting joy that is worth living for.
