Support Those Who Serve the Church: Ascension Launches New Liturgy of the Hours Fund

New initiative invites the faithful to support the Church’s daily prayer by helping place new liturgical volumes into the hands of those who pray it on behalf of the whole Church.

[Exton, PA - June 23, 2026] As the Church prepares to welcome the first new edition of the Liturgy of the Hours in the United States in more than 50 years, Ascension has announced the launch of its Liturgy of the Hours Assistance Fund, a new initiative supporting Catholic institutions as they prepare to receive the new volumes used in daily prayer.

Created in response to requests from priests, religious, and seminarians across the country, the Assistance Fund helps communities with demonstrated financial need obtain Ascension’s four-volume Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition, so that cost is not a barrier during this transition. The faithful are invited to contribute to the Assistance Fund, allowing laity to support those entrusted with the Church’s daily prayer through a contribution that subsidizes their purchase of the new four-volume set.

“For generations, religious communities, clergy, and seminarians have faithfully carried the Church’s daily prayer, interceding not only for their own needs but for the needs of the whole world,” said Jonathan Strate, President and CEO of Ascension. “The Assistance Fund gives the Church a unique opportunity to support that prayer in a tangible way. It’s a beautiful expression of the Body of Christ coming together so that the Church’s prayer may continue to flourish for generations to come.”

Applications for assistance will be reviewed by a panel convened by Ascension and composed of individuals with experience in Catholic ministry, formation, and institutional leadership. Approved assistance will be applied directly toward eligible purchases of Ascension’s Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition

By covering all program administration costs and offering additional discounts on eligible purchases, Ascension is maximizing the impact of every donation, which helps extend support to even more clergy, religious, and seminarians.

"As a Dominican friar, my life is shaped by the Liturgy of the Hours,” said Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P. “The prayers that mark each day (and the books that contain them) are of vital importance in living my religious consecration. The move to a new edition will require my community and many communities like mine to replace dozens or even hundreds of volumes at once. This Assistance Fund eases that burden, allowing us to persevere without interruption. We are supremely grateful to all those who support us amidst this transition."

How to Participate

Any individual, family, parish group, apostolate, or organization that wishes to contribute to the Assistance Fund are invited to give at www.AscensionPress.com/LOTHFund. Gifts made to the Assistance Fund are used to offset eligible institutional purchases and are not tax-deductible charitable donations.
