Quotes
- “Adoration is the abundance that surpasses our need.”-St. Augustine
- “...Eucharistic adoration is simply the natural consequence of the eucharistic celebration, which is itself the Church’s supreme act of adoration.” - Pope Benedict XVI
- “The act of adoration outside Mass prolongs and intensifies all that takes place during the liturgical celebration itself”- Pope Benedict XVI
- “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:10-11
- “Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”- Matthew 7:7
- “When I was somewhat overcome by the fear that I was to be outside the community for so long a time alone, Jesus said to me, You will not be alone, because I am with you always and everywhere. Near to My Heart, fear nothing. I Myself am the cause of your departure. Know that My eyes follow every move of your heart with great attention. I am bringing you into seclusion so that I Myself may form your heart according to My future plans. What are you afraid of? If you are with Me, who will dare touch you? Nevertheless, I am very pleased that you confide your fears to Me, My daughter. Speak to Me about everything in a completely simple and human way; by this you will give Me great joy. I understand you because I am God-Man. This simple language of your heart is more pleasing to Me than the hymns composed in My honor.”- Diary of St. Faustina, 797
- “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.”- Psalm 46:2-3
Challenges of the Week
- Begin your time of prayer with an act of Faith. Praise and thanksgiving have the power to unlock our hearts.
- Allow Scripture to anchor your prayer. It can be hard to discern God's voice, but we can always rely on Scripture to speak the truth.
- Offer and entrust your prayer time to the Lord, no matter what happens. We can’t judge the fruitfulness of our prayer. Have hope that God is always at work. He delights in our effort to spend time with him.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray at the beginning of prayer.
- If you’re experiencing distractions during your prayer time, tell Jesus about them. You can be honest with Jesus about the experiences in your heart.
