How to Let the Eucharist Heal You
Share
Every person experiences a need for healing whether it is physical, mental, or spiritual. Sr. Mary Grace, Sr. Ann Immaculée, and Sr. Marie Veritas explore the need for healing and why the Eucharist is the greatest source of healing. Using personal stories and reflections on Scripture, the Sisters encourage each of us to seek healing from God so that we may enter into great union with him.

“Our Gardener is a gentle gardener. Jesus Christ is so powerful that even his gentlest of touches can transform our lives.”
Quotes
- Holy Communion augments our union with Christ. The principal fruit of receiving the Eucharist in Holy Communion is an intimate union with Christ Jesus. Indeed, the Lord said: "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him." Life in Christ has its foundation in the Eucharistic banquet: "As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1391)
- “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God–what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
- “And he told them many things in parables, saying: ‘Listen! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell on the path, and the birds came and ate them up. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and they sprang up quickly, since they had no depth of soil. But when the sun rose, they were scorched; and since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Let anyone with ears listen!’” (Matthew 13:3-9).
- “The Eucharist bathes the tormented soul in light and love. Then the soul appreciates these words, ‘Come all you who are sick, I will restore your health’” (St. Bernadette Soubirous).
- “My mercy I will not take from him” (Psalm 89:33).
- “Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
- “The only charism at work in the Eucharist is the charism of love” (Cardinal John O'Connor).
Challenges of the Week
- Have patience in the healing process. The pace at which you heal may not be as quick as you would prefer. Trust in God’s process. Trust in his timing.
- Take love seriously and let the love of God, given in the Eucharist, love you. Allow your heart to enter into the Mass. Talk to Jesus throughout the Mass.
- In your woundedness, in your brokenness, allow Jesus to gaze upon you with love. Rest in his presence and allow him to love you.
