How to Give a Good Talk for Large Groups, Small Groups, and Everything in Between

Have you ever wondered how Mike Gormley and Dave VanVickle prepare their talks and teachings? Wonder no more! Mike and Dave discuss some of their suggestions for how to structure talks and keep an audience engaged from the start. They also share how they prefer to evangelize: one on one, in a classroom, or to a large group.

Snippet from the Show
There was a time where beauty could easily lead a person to God. However, now it is far more common that it is hurt and woundedness that leads someone to God.

Following Aristotle’s Method

Ethos - Establish your credibility. In this portion of your talk, you are convincing the audience as to why they should listen to you and why you have the authority to speak on your topic. Basically, you are winning over the audience.

Logos - Back up your points with real facts and evidence. Use history and logic. In a way, make your argument.

Pathos - Using the understood values and beliefs of your audience, appeal to their emotions.

Mike’s Challenge

Take topics that you love to teach and create hooks for each of them. One to four sentences that hammer home the main idea stated in such a dramatic, pathos-dripping way that it draws your audience in.
