How Should We Prioritize Different Devotions?
Fr. Josh JohnsonFinding time for the various devotions the Catholic faith offers—such as the rosary, adoration, daily Mass, and reading Scripture—can sometimes feel overwhelming. Jesus is pleased with our desire to spend time with him no matter how many devotions we are able to fit into our day.

Listener Question (15:43)
Hi Father, my question is on daily practices of faith. I have heard it said that you should try to go to daily Mass; that you should pray a rosary every day; that you should read Scripture every day; that you should get to Adoration every week; that you should do personal personal prayer every day to build your relationship with Jesus; and that you should dive into devotionals/novenas, religious reading, the lives of the saints, etc…
I know there is no commandment to do these things every day, but it is strongly encouraged by various religious to do these daily practices. My question is, should we really be doing ALL these things every day, which would total several hours every day (mass + rosary + scripture reading + personal prayer, etc,) in addition to anything you might want to dive into personally to grow your faith? I have basically been doing two main “religious” things a day, whether it is daily Mass or adoration or scripture reading or a rosary or confession, but I don’t do all the “daily” practices every day. What would you say to this, and what would your advice be? What is the hierarchy of the best things to do every day and which ones are “must dos”? Thank you! ( Anonymous)
