When Does Anger Become Sinful? (with Sr. Josephine Garrett)

When Does Anger Become Sinful? (with Sr. Josephine Garrett)

Ascension Team

We all experience anger for different reasons, but how do we prevent anger from turning into wrath? Sr. Josephine Garrett joins Fr. Josh to answer questions about dealing with anger, conflict, and unforgiveness in our families and communities.

Snippet from the Show

To prevent anger from becoming wrath, we need to invite Jesus into our experience of anger and allow him to heal us.

Shownotes

Coping with Grief and Unforgiveness (7:15)

My grandfather was euthanized in 2018. How do I cope with the profound anger of losing my depressed loved one to what is both murder and suicide? How do I forgive people who aren’t sorry they helped him die and when does that anger become sinful? (Marion-Rose)

Dealing with Conflict within Community (17:32)

I’m angry about some of the politics going on within my parish, internal stuff like on committees and leadership choices. Decisions are made & final. Yet I feel myself pulling back. It feels childish and petty and this is no reason to stay away but I also feel hurt, and embarrassed. I’m ashamed to admit but it’s hard to focus on the mass, focus on God, focus on anything outside of my own fallen pride and anger. So often we focus on our relationships outside of church but what advice can you give about managing these feelings within our own church walls? It hurts. (Anonymous)
