St. Benedict of Nursia Sacred Art
Delve into the profound beauty of the Catholic Faith with an exclusive portrait of St. Benedict.
Please note: The canvas and print do not come mounted or framed.
Find inspiration in the life and holiness of St. Benedict, a saint and the Father of Western Monasticism, whose prayer against evil has had a timeless impact on Catholics through the ages. This newly commissioned sacred art beautifully captures the story of St. Benedict's life.
A faithful follower of Christ, Benedict gave up his family’s wealth and sought a life of intimacy with Jesus away from the noise of the world.
His way of life—which was rooted in prayer, structured work, and intentional fraternity— attracted many other young men, and soon he was invited to serve as the abbot of a monastery.
During his time in the monastery, Benedict was nearly poisoned two separate times by both a cup of wine and a loaf of bread. In both instances, when he prayed over the poisoned objects, the Lord spared him from being poisoned by shattering the cup, and sending a raven to take the bread.
In the painting, you will see the shattered cup in St. Benedict’s hands, and a raven flying in the background, symbols of his trust in God, and the Lord’s protection of his children.
Inspiring Catholic art is not reserved for use in churches and cathedrals—it is available for homes and offices as well. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us, “Sacred art draws man to adoration, to prayer, and to the love of God” (CCC 2502).
This sacred art of St. Benedict is a masterful addition to Ascension’s Sacred Art Collection of Holy Men and Women by Tianna Williams, a partnership between Tianna Williams, Fr. Josh Johnson, and Ascension to create beautiful sacred art that transforms Catholic churches and homes into places of deeper rest, prayer, and faith.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Catholic Faith and let the sacred imagery of St. Benedict’s remarkable journey inspire your own spiritual pilgrimage.
