Description

What does it take to fall in love—and to keep choosing that love for a lifetime? After more than 30 years of marriage, Arthur C. Brooks and Ester Munt-Brooks have learned that lasting love is something we can understand, cultivate, and deepen. Now, for the first time with Ascension, they’re sharing what they’ve learned along the way.

Join bestselling author and Harvard professor Arthur C. Brooks and his wife, Ester Munt-Brooks, for Falling in Love and Staying in Love, a special live conversation about love, marriage, and building a life together.

Drawing on their own marriage and Arthur’s decades of work on happiness and human flourishing, Arthur and Ester will share personal stories, hard-won wisdom, and practical insights into choosing one another through every season of life. Together, they’ll explore how love changes over time—and what can help a marriage not simply endure, but deepen.

Whether you’re dating, engaged, newly married, or have spent decades together, this evening offers an opportunity to think more deeply about the love we choose, the relationships we build, and how we can continue growing together over a lifetime.

Ester Munt-Brooks

Ester Munt-Brooks grew up in Barcelona and became a touring musician as a teenager, leaving school at fifteen. After falling in love with an American in her mid-twenties (her husband, Arthur
Brooks) with whom she didn’t share a language, she built a life across continents—raising three
children and gradually moving from a secular background to becoming a Catholic educator and
theology student.

After completing her master’s in theology at the Augustine Institute, Ester speaks in both
English and Spanish across the U.S. about faith, love, and lived experience. And she and Arthur
now teach together, his science of happiness and meaning meeting her understanding of faith,
love, and what it actually takes to build a life worth living alongside another person.
