Disciples Called to Witness

"Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses."

This statement by the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis on the new evangelization focuses on reaching out to Catholics, practicing or not, who have lost a sense of the Faith and seek to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church.

This resource examines what the new evangelization is, its focus, its importance for the Church and how dioceses and parishes can promote it. Special emphasis is given to the call of Pope Benedict XVI to pursue the new evangelization with renewed vigor and joy and diocesan and parish based resources to assist Catholics in renewing their Faith and sharing it with others.

Christ commands us to be his witnesses to proclaim his Good News to all people, everywhere and at all times, and to invite those around us to experience Christ's love and mercy through the Church. The new evangelization seeks to invite modern man and culture into a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church by developing and creating outreach efforts to foster and support this mission.
