Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB
Author
After experiencing a dramatic conversion and being baptized Catholic at Penn State University, Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB, became a Benedictine monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, one year later, in 1998, and was ordained a Catholic priest in 2004. His calling to the monastic life came after a transformational period of growth in prayer at which time he also experienced a strong desire to share that gift of prayer. Since his ordination to the priesthood, he has taught extensively on prayer, the spiritual life, spiritual direction, and Benedictine spirituality through various media including radio, television, podcasts, published books, retreat conferences, and academic courses for seminarians, priests, religious, and laity.
In addition to his MDiv and MA degrees from Saint Vincent Seminary, Fr. Boniface earned BS, MS, and PhD degrees in computer science from Penn State University and a licentiate in sacred theology from the Angelicum. He currently serves Saint Vincent Seminary as the director for spiritual formation and the director of the Institute for Ministry Formation.
Fr. Boniface's debut title with Ascension is "Saints of the First Monasteries."
