The Ascension Lenten Companion

I am so glad that this journal guided my Lent this year. I truly mean it when I say it changed my life and deepened my relationship with God. I felt like it was written for me specifically. The growth and connectedness I gained from this journal was invaluable. I am so grateful to the author and to Ascension for publishing it and couldn't recommend it more! I will be revisiting it throughout the year to repeat the guided meditations because they were so powerful.

It was really thought provoking and made my Lenten journey more meaningful. The book was also beautiful and the artwork incredible.

Father Toups is a wonderful author, who provided a great deal of insight into some of the gospels as we journeyed to Jerusalem. I looked forward to reading his daily meditations as well as listening to his weekly videos. Looking forward to next year.

This book and Father Toup meditations helped to strengthen my Lent. I would take the book to Adoration and do the mediations. It helped me to open my heart more to Jesus during Lent. Oh my! This was one of my best lents! This Lenten companion & Fr Toups reflections were so inspirational. I really felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and grew closer to Jesus. I truly believe that His love & mercy for me is everlasting & limitless!

This was my first time doing the Lenten Companion and I really enjoyed it. My goal for this Lent was to be more connected and this book really helped me accomplish that. I honestly miss it now that Lent is over. Father Toups' videos were also amazing. I would look forward to them every week. It all really made me feel present in the journey. This great little book provided me with the focus I needed to get through Lent. This was my first Lent and Easter without my husband of 54 years, It was hard but I offered all my pain, suffering and tears to an Almighty God who saw fit to save this wretched old world by sacrificing his only begotten son Jesus the Christ. I have no knowledge of a love that great. I pray for His continued love and grace to finish my personal life journey. I beg for his grace.

Father Toups has a magical way of peacefully drawing you closer to Jesus through self reflection lead by the Bible as you journey with Christ. I absolutely love his guidance.

I used the journal and videos for a Lenten Group for 15 people this year. The overall experience has been wonderful and participants were so happy with the experience. The journal supported a deeper experience and the videos enhanced it as well.

Walking with Jesus to Jerusalem

I truly love this book as it helped me connect with Jesus and his followers along the 40 days of Lent. I felt I was right there experiencing it all. The length of the daily readings was perfect for me. I could connect with Jesus in a personal, human way and imagine my role in following him. The passages made me think how I live my daily life.

Every single one of Fr. Toups' journals are amazing! I find myself going to places I didn't even know I needed to. And the terrific thing is each person truly goes on their own journey with it. I look forward to his accompanying videos and audio so much also.

Loved this book & Fr Toups’ meditations. My only complaint was that my copy arrived missing about 15 pages in the middle of the book. When I emailed Ascension, they quickly emailed me the missing pages, as I requested, but it just wasn’t the same. The book is great, but I suggest that Ascension check future orders before shipping them. Fr Mark Toups has become one of my favorites, ever since we did his Oremus study at our parish a few years ago. If you are interested in learning Lectio, I highly recommend that study also.

Our small Faith-Sharing group used this as our Lenten study. It was such a good book, we decided to meet weekly (instead of our normal twice-monthly) to review our progress and watch the accompanying videos. One member has the Ascension app and shared a few of the daily readings. Those were wonderful and made me wish I had access, too! I can honestly say, this has been a life changing Lent for most of us! Thank you and I’m very much looking forward to the next book in this series!

I look forward to Fr Mark’s Lenten journals! He knows how to take the user into the Scripture setting each day, creating an intimacy with Christ on the journey. I also enjoy the videos which give me such a sense of peace and a desire for strengthening my faith.

This is the first time I've immersed myself into a powerful journey with Jesus to Jerusalem. Fr. Mark Toups has such a beautiful way of guiding you through each day with the little video before you delve into the quiet time listening to the Lord and responding to Him. I will definitely look for the next one to follow next year when Lent rolls around. I was blessed beyond anything I expected, when I purchased this Lenten Companion. I will encourage all in my family and friends and ladies at bible study at church.

I recently purchased the Lenten Companion and gave them to each of the men making the Men’s Renewal at our church. Fr. Mark Toups did an excellent job with the presentation of the videos. My personal feedback and that of my Renewal Team agree that it was very powerful, easy to follow, the videos gave it a personal touch and easy to relate to.

The one-page summary for each day was very meaningful. Because of its brevity, I was able to have the time to read it, reflect on the daily Bible verse and relate it to my daily life. Upon completion, I felt that Lent had more of an impact on me as I followed the Journey of Jesus.

I enjoyed each day in prayer and meditation walking with Jesus.

We did the Lenten Companion study with 3 couples. We have done studies in the past also. This year was the best study ever. We all enjoyed the daily devotions and reflections. We all said the companion study led us each to our best Lent ever and we enjoyed our journey with Jesus and His followers all the way to Jerusalem!

Without a doubt-hands down-the best meditation book I've ever had. I was so enthused that I always wanted to know what the next day would bring in Jesus life. Can't say enough about it!

This Lenten Companion allowed me to take a spiritual journey through the Biblical events of Lent. The most remarkable thing was the way it helped me reflect on my life and how I am living it. It touched very sensitive areas daily, as if it knew what I needed to hear daily. It provided a pathway for me to grow in my faith, trust in God, love for others.

This Lent, I decided, I was going to do a better job of getting to know Jesus as he journeyed to Jerusalem and His death on the cross.
The Lenten Companion, with the weekly video and the daily scripture readings allowed me to do just that.
The challenge to put myself into each scripture scene and then journal what struck me and what stirred in my heart forced me to read and re-read scripture like I’ve not done before. It truly was a blessing. I can honestly say that this was my Best Lent Ever! I would recommend the Lenten Companion to anyone.

Loved the series! Just not sure why Father Mark said the same thing all week! Would have enjoyed a new thought, idea or lesson each and every day.
