How to Know if You’ve Found “The One”

Staying on the straight and narrow path can be difficult when you’re discerning marriage and looking for “the one”. Jackie says we live in a culture where people either say “Love is a choice. Marry whoever,” or they say that you should feel the romance all of the time when you’re with them. There is a middle ground between these two extremes, and Jackie helps us find it in this video. She says there are five things you should look for when deciding who to marry. These five things are good signs that he or she is “the one”, meaning the one who will help you and your children get to heaven:
  1. You experience peace and joy in the relationship.
  2. You have a common goal, which is heaven.
  3. You can finally be yourself around them.
  4. You can argue with him or her in a healthy way.
  5. You’re confident he or she will help you and your children get to heaven.
In other words, don’t get caught up in the romantic, but don’t entirely ignore it either. If heaven is the ultimate goal, everything else will fall into place. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well” (Matthew 6:33).
