Opportunities to Witness

Opportunities to Witness

Jeff Cavins

What's holding you back from sharing Christ with others? With real-life examples and practical advice, Jeff encourages us to recognize and seize opportunities to witness God's love to others.

Snippet from the Show

As disciples of Christ, we all have the voice to share why we love Jesus and what he's done in our lives.

Shownotes

Habakkuk 1:1-4

The oracle of God which Habakkuk the prophet saw. O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and thou wilt not hear? Or cry to thee “Violence!” and thou wilt not save. Why dost thou make me see wrongs and look upon trouble? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law is slacked and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous, so justice goes forth perverted.”

CCC 1

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness, freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

CCC 1430-1431

To repent, metanoia in Greek means to undergo a “radical reorientation of the whole life, a return, a conversion to God with all our heart, an end of sin, a turning away from evil. The Catholic Church teaches us that this conversion does not aim primarily at outward works, “sackcloth and ashes,” but the conversion of the heart, an interior conversion. Once there is an interior conversion, outward expressions follow.

Mark 16:20

“And they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it.”

The Kerygma

  1. God loves you and has a plan for your life
  2. Sin will destroy you and ruin God’s plan for your life
  3. Christ Jesus died to save you
  4. Repent and believe the Gospel
  5. Get baptized and receive the Holy Spirit
  6. Abide in Christ and his Body, the Church

Witnessing is a big stumbling block for me. I want to recognize opportunities and be able to take advantage of them, but so far, I’m still reluctant (or oblivious?). Thank you for doing this show. I’m in awe of the ease with which you connect with people in the Spirit.
