How to Overcome Anxiety

Do you struggle with worry and anxiety? We all do from time to time, but it’s important to know that God specifically commands us not to worry and not to be anxious. But sometimes that’s easier said than done! This week, Danielle shares advice that can help you resist the temptation to worry and instead choose to trust in God.

Advice on Overcoming Anxiety

Show up in prayer.

Even if you aren’t “feeling it,” being consistent in daily prayer is an important way we can grow in trusting God.

Keep seeking.

Just as Mary kept seeking Jesus before she finally found him in the temple, we need to keep seeking God in our lives.

Ask others to pray for you.

You are not meant to go through difficult things alone! Ask for intercession from Mary and the saints, and ask other people in your life to lift you up in prayer.

Give thanks.

It’s hard to be anxious when we focus on the many ways God continually blesses us each and every day. Make it a habit to be thankful!

Read the Psalms.

The Psalms give voice to the full range of human emotions and can help us to pray through times of great distress.
