If we want to truly love God with everything we have, we must look for opportunities to love our neighbor and act on those opportunities.
Gezerah Shavah (“cut equally”): The teaching based upon an analogy or inference from one verse to another.
Matthew 22:37-39 “And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it; You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Proverbs 14:31 “He who oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.”
Amos 5:12 “For I know how many are your transgressions, and how great are your sins — you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate.”
Ezekiel 16:49 “Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food, and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy.”
Matt 25:40 Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”
