Jeff Cavins is recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the most effective and engaging speakers in the Church today. Few can communicate their love for Jesus Christ with as much zeal, clarity, and enthusiasm as Jeff Cavins. After twelve years as a Protestant pastor, Jeff returned to the Catholic Church under the guidance of Bishop Paul Dudley. Can I stream my study videos on a Smart TV?

Thinkific may have issues streaming on Smart TVs. This is because Smart TV web browsers differ from standard computer browsers, and Thinkific does not support Chromium, which is the browser system used by most Smart TVs.

If you are having trouble loading videos on your Smart TV, you can try connecting a laptop or desktop computer to your TV using an HDMI cable and playing the videos from your computer. Many customers have found this to work well.

If you prefer to use AirPlay or screencasting from a mobile device, this may also work, as long as both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Unfortunately, Ascension is not able to troubleshoot issues related to individual Smart TVs or casting devices.

Do I need DVDs to run a study in person?

There are three ways your group could view the study videos:

You could watch the videos on DVD, gathered as a group.
You could watch the videos streaming from our Thinkific website, gathered as a group.
Each person could purchase the online access and watch the videos independently at home on the Thinkific website.

We strongly recommend purchasing the DVDs for in-person group viewing because this is usually the easiest method for volunteer leaders to manage and because the DVD sets can be reused later by other Bible study groups in your parish.

Does the online study access expire?

Online access to our studies do expire after one year (or two years, if you are using The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation, Foundations of Faith: A Journey Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church, or Matthew: The King and His Kingdom). This access begins from the day you purchase your online access, or from the day you set up your access (if you are using a group enrollment link given to you from your small group leader).

How do I access the all-digital online course after I purchase?

After you purchase a product that includes access, check your inbox for an email from our partner Thinkific. In order to access your online study, you will receive a link in that email to create a free account with Thinkific and access your study.

You will then be able to access your online study at ascensionpress.thinkific.com.

(Note that if you have already created a Thinkific account through Ascension, you will not need to create a new one, but will then receive a link to access your online study directly.)

If you purchased multiple online course enrollments for your small group, you'll receive an email the day of your purchase with a link which you can then forward to your students. With this link, each student can create their account and access their online course.

Will I need a workbook to complete a study?

The workbook is an integral part of the study, containing reflection and discussion questions. To get the most out of the study, we recommend each participant have a Bible, his or her own workbook, and for studies that include an additional reading book, we encourage a copy of that as well.

What study materials will my group and I need?

You can choose the study materials that best fit how you plan to journey through the study!

If you are leading a small group, we recommend purchasing the program’s Starter Pack for yourself, along with a Study Set/Workbook and Online Access for each participant.

If you are journeying through the study on your own, we recommend purchasing a Study Set/Workbook and Online Access for yourself.

In addition, we recommend that everyone have a Catholic Bible and Catechism of the Catholic Church. We recommend the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Ascension Edition and The Great Adventure Catholic Bible, which incorporates the same color-coded learning system used throughout our studies.

Can I download and print out the digital workbook from a study?

Our online edition of a study includes a digital copy of your workbook. This workbook is in a read-only format, and therefore cannot be printed out as this is a violation of copyright and intellectual property law. This version of the workbook is also unable to save student responses.

If you would prefer a printed copy of your workbook and have ordered the online-only option in error, please contact us with your order number and we will be able to help you set up your order for the printed materials instead!

Ok Book

This book was ok very wordy at times. I did not enjoy the writing style, at times it seemed to go on and on. Based on this book I probably would not buy another book by this author.

The Activated Disciple Gives Direction and Inspiration

I have been on the path of discipleship in earnest since a retreat in 2015: Becoming an Intentional Disciple.The retreat turned my heart on fire.
But this book has given me some of the best tools to activating my discipleship. I especially loved the way Mr. Cavins gets you into evaluating where you are. Am I a fan or a follower? This is my question to myself each day for every interaction. Although much of what I am living was affirmed by reading this book; I am ready to take it to the next level! Anyone who wants to move forward needs to read this book!

Activated Disciple

Cavins is one of the best catholic(christian) teachers I have experienced. His study program Great Adventure was marvelous. This book is good, I have only read it once, but it will be used as a reference for me.

Great Book

Jeff Cavins is an incredibly knowledgeable person that I learn so much from. The Activated Disciple is an easy read and contains concrete simple steps of how to become a better follower of Jesus and how to also evangelize and brings others close to Jesus. Excited to start the Activated Disciple Challenge now!

So pleased with this book. I am active in the Cursillo movement, and this book follows all the directives in Cursillo - “Make a friend, be a friend, bring that friend to Christ”. I also work with RCIA. So much valuable information and methods to help our seekers. Not to mention I ordered “When You Suffer”, Jeff’s newest book! Haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but looking forward to it! Jeff’s on it! Thanks, Jeff!

Just What Was Needed

I previously did an online study of James, which featured Jeff Cavins. Was very impressed with his teaching and way of speaking, so I was immensely looking forward to reading The Activated Disciple. Was not disappointed. This was everything that was expected and more. Learning about and loving the Lord is an ongoing process, and Jeff has greatly helped in that regard. I am taking my faith to the next level and this book is a big part of it. The Activated Disciple is something that, like the Bible, should be kept near at all times.

Day by Day

I am reading a chapter of the Activated Disciple every other day and a chapter of Leviticus daily. I am pacing myself in order to digest from each book lessons to live by. Jeff is serving as my rabbi and I a talmidim. I am open to the journey before me. I know it is just the beginning but I feel I have come a long way in just a week toward my own discipleship.

The book for the most part was good. I did gain a few new insights but expected more from it. With that said I would still recommend it.

Easy good read

This was very inspiring. So inspiring inf fact that I am working on the activated disciple challenge now!

Excellent read and very rich

Read this in two sessions. Literally couldn't out it down except to refill my coffee cup! Made a lot of notes and highlighted many passages to use for later reference. Awaiting the 40 day challenge. The book validated much of what I already do and gave me some ideas on new ways to grow closer to Jesus, which was my focus all along! Thank you Mr. Cavins for a great book and rich instruction! Highly recommend this book!

The Activated Disciple

WoW! Best read ever. Picked up the book and read it in two sessions. So much information in such a little book. More information in this book than in much bigger books that I have read. To the point and easy to read. Highly recommend to everyone that wants to follow in Christ's footsteps.
