This podcast was fascinating. Learning the Old Testament roots of our beautiful Catholic Mass was so inspiring and uplifting. Dr Zri did such a great job . His enthusiasm is contagious. I hope to go throughnthe whole podcast again, after I read his A Biblical Walk Through The Mass book.
This book wonderfully opens up the incredible fruit behind the Mass I never knew existed. As a cradle Catholic that came home about 4 years ago, this has been a wonderful way to have more in depth worship in the Mass before, during, and after. Easy to read and comprehend, plenty of Biblical references. Helps when Protestant friends ask "Where is that in the Bible", funny you should ask.
I am an OCIA coordinator for our parish and have been for nearly 15 years. When The Mass was first introduced over 13 years ago I started using it in the introductory portion of my sessions. I felt that a firmer understanding of The Mass was what the participants needed since we were asking them to attend weekly Mass while they discerned this is truly what they want to do. Many have been so thankful for that early background - we switched to the second version when it came out 3 years ago! It is so magnificent and has even deeper my faith in the Eucharist as well as the Word of God! Thank you Dr. Sri!

As a cradle Catholic this book has made the mass come alive for me. Everything at mass is done for a reason and this book explains it all. I feel a deeper closeness to Jesus, not only at mass now, but in my everyday life. I look forward to mass with a new understanding and love for Jesus. I would highly recommend this book to all Catholics.
This is an excellent resource for new Catholics, thoroughly explaining all aspects of the Mass.
This is one of the best studies I’ve taken. I went from going to Mass on Sunday to going everyday to start my day with Christ. Such a love for the Eucharist has grown in me and has changed my life. It explained the why we do the different parts of the Mass - where, in the Bible, the tradition of each section developed. It opened my eyes to see God’s glory in the Mass.
This book has helped me understand the Mass so well. It's invaluable to me!
As a Spanish speaking native, I really appreciate A Biblical Walk Through the Mass. Dr. Edward Sri makes it very easy to understand the most important subject of our faith. I highly recommend this book to catechists for children and adults, and for all ministry leaders in every parish. Every Catholic should read this book!
Have just started my Bible class on this book, so far fantastic, can't wait to get more into it....
I just recently purchased this book. The first chapter deals with the Sign of the Cross. I am a cradle Catholic and have taken that for granted. There was no real thought to it. It was just how we always started our prayers. Dr. Sri opened my mind and dropped a little wisdom with a great impact. I will never again begin the mass with just a mere sign of the cross without realizing that it is "a sign of divine protection and a mark distinguishing the faithful from the wicked" I did not really think about the spiritual mark I was making on my body. Dr. Sri gives example after example of signs used in scripture.
While making the sign we are calling on God's name. Just thinking about that just gave me goosebumps. It made me realize just what I was doing without thinking. I know that the mention of His name makes demons cower in fear. It is a very powerful thing to do. Dr. Sri reminds us of God's promise, when two or three gather in his name. I knew about that, but didn't really think about it anymore. This is a great reminder for older Catholics. Who may have forgotten about these treasures over the years. The first chapter is filled with these kind of reminders and nuggets of wisdom. He gives plenty of Bible references which I plan to look up and take my time. I'm really excited to read this book. In light of what I have read to date, I would highly recommend a biblical walk through the Mass by Dr. Edward Sri, to older and younger Catholics.
