Description

Find Christ in your everyday life

Most of us spend our days in ordinary places and routines: driving to work, folding laundry, sitting in waiting rooms, answering emails, making dinner, carrying responsibilities, and trying to keep up with the pace of life. It can be easy to wonder if God is really present in the middle of what can feel repetitive, exhausting, or mundane.

In Priest in the Wild, Fr. Luke Doyle reveals that the ordinary moments of life are often where Christ is closest.

Drawing from his experiences as a young priest, campus chaplain, spiritual father, and storyteller, Fr. Luke shares honest and deeply human reflections on meeting Jesus in places most people would never expect.

Through humor, vulnerability, and pastoral wisdom, he shares how God uses everyday experiences to draw us into deeper communion with him.

Priest in the Wild is an invitation to:

  • Encounter the sacred hidden in the simple moments of daily life
  • Recognize Jesus in the people you interact with each day
  • Develop a deeper, more personal relationship with Christ
  • Grow in prayer through a deeper awareness of God in each moment
  • Discover that no moment is too mundane to become an avenue for God’s grace

Fr. Luke Doyle reminds us that the Christian life is not about having everything together. It is about saying “yes” to Jesus day after day and allowing him to lead us into the great story he is already writing in our lives.

Praise for Priest in the Wild

“Fr. Luke has been a gifted homilist as long as I have known him, and now we see those gifts through the written word. In this book, Fr. Luke helps people of all ages connect the wisdom of Scripture with some of life’s greatest pleasures; the outdoors, movies and sports. I was glad to see him share his love for baseball and his hometown team within these pages. Wonderfully told and well done!”

–J.J. Picollo

General Manager of the Kansas City Royals

“One of the many gifts that makes Fr. Luke a compelling priest is his talent for telling stories just like he’s having a conversation with you, and this book is full of examples. He finds God in ordinary places, like a Royals playoff run, a hike that goes south, and a conversation with a stranger on a plane. Fr. Luke’s humble and humorous style makes it easy to walk away with lessons you can take away as your own.”

–Peter and Veronica Mallouk

President and CEO of Creative Planning Wealth Management

“All children need to know that their father loves them. Father Luke's deep love for his spiritual sons and daughters comes across on every page of these insightful, funny, and true-to-life meditations on his life as a priest. By opening his own fatherly heart, he points to the eternal love of our Father in Heaven.”

–Father John Wilson

Catholic Chaplain at Columbia University

“In Priest in the Wild, Fr. Luke Doyle invites readers into the heart of a spiritual father. While priests accompany the people of God and offer them the grace of the Sacraments, they are also continually transformed by God's presence in their own prayer, ministry, and the lives of those they serve; as they give, they are given to. With honesty and sincerity, Fr. Luke Doyle shares graces and events that have shaped his vocation, offering readers a glimpse into the heart of a priest and the ways God is at work in the ordinary and extraordinary moments of priestly ministry. Priest in the Wild invites readers to reflect on who the priest is, not just what he does, offering insight into the spirituality and identity of the priesthood. Priest in the Wild would be beneficial for anyone seeking to come to know the heart and spirituality of the priesthood, as well as for an individual discerning a priestly vocation.”

–Fr. Eric Garris

Vocations Director, Diocese of Cleveland, OH

“As a former Major League Baseball All-Star, I know the value of having a great game plan. Success on the field didn’t happen by accident—it came through discipline, preparation, hard work, and persevering through failure. The same is true in the spiritual life.

Priest in the Wild by Fr. Luke Doyle is the kind of playbook every Catholic needs. Through relatable stories, practical wisdom, and an authentic love for Jesus Christ, Fr. Luke reminds us that holiness isn’t reserved for a select few—it’s the calling of every one of us. His message challenges and inspires me to become the man God created me to be, not the man the world wants me to settle for.

One of my favorite reminders comes from St. Catherine of Siena: “Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.” That’s exactly what my friend Fr. Luke encourages his readers to do. This book is more than an inspiring read—it’s a guide for imperfect followers of Jesus striving to become saints. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who, through Christ and the sacraments, desires to become the person God created them to be. Fr. Luke Doyle is in a league of his own!”
