When I first saw My First Interactive Rosary Book advertised by Ascension Kids, I knew that it was a book that I needed for my children! I pray the Rosary daily with my children, who range in age from 5 months to 14 years, and I am always looking for new and exciting interactive ways to make the Rosary meaningful to them.
There are so many wonderful things to say about this book. To begin, I love the illustrations because they are beautifully done and include children of various ethnic backgrounds, which is so important because every child should be able to see that the Rosary is for them and is prayed around the world by people who look like they do.
I particularly enjoy that this book takes a multi-sensory approach by allowing the child to use their hands to explore while they use their minds and hearts to pray. The book includes a wheel to help the children understand what day to pray which mystery, many lift-the-flap elements, a textured full rosary, and tabs to easily switch between mysteries.
Even for those who may be new to the devotion of the Rosary, this book is an excellent introduction because it has tips for parents to easily introduce the Rosary into their family prayer life. The book has wonderful catechetical aspects because it not only leads the reader through Rosary but also gives the rationale or “why” for the Rosary. The book does a very clear job of walking the child (and adult) through the Rosary prayer by prayer with full texts of each prayer.
This is a book that I will definitely be holding on to for a long time and pulling out to use with my children often. It will be on the top of my to-recommend and to-gift pile for sure! I would highly suggest you put this on your lists too!
If you like this book, I would encourage you to check out My First Interactive Mass Book which is another family favorite.
Many thanks to Candace Camling and to Ascension Kids who sent me a review copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are offered freely and are entirely my own.
This is an excellent introduction and guide to praying the rosary. I gave it to my daughter-in-law, who is in OCIA, so that she can teach my grandchildren how to pray this prayer while learning it herself. I'm super excited!
My daughter is not even a year old but I wanted to begin sourcing materials that would help her learn and understand the faith. Thought she cannot yet absorb everything the book has to offer, she enjoys the illustrations and the tabs. I am looking forward to the days we can read this together and teach her what the rosary is and the power of praying it. Thank you for making these books to being teaching the youth at and early age! Looking forward to purchasing more.
I think it’s very instructive and easy to follow. I’m hoping that a day not long from today you publish a book in Spanish.
My 9 and 5 year olds are reading it, hopefully will get them praying rosaries soon. Great book for getting kids interesting and understanding the rosary! Good quality, good illustrations good content!
