I listened to the podcast on The Imitation of Christ by Father Mike Schmitz. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to have my own copy of the book to read over and over. I’m trying to live my life in accordance with God’s will and I am using this as a guide to follow the way of His son Jesus in living a life of love, kindness, gentleness, charity and humility.

Thomas A Kempis writing is so good. I learned something in every chapter and even about myself. Everyday when I read from this book I am moved. I’m so thankful.

The book is beautiful, inside and out. Although written several hundred years ago, it is presented in an understandable manner. There is also commentary at the end of each book within the book to clarify questions.

I just started reading the book. I have already found so much to ponder. I will read it slowly. I will ask the Lord to direct my thoughts as I read. Thanks so much for offering the book.

I’m really enjoying this book. I l think that it’s wonderful , where you can listen to Fr. Mike read it and then explain and highlight the important points!

I am 67 years old and my father had this book when he converted to the faith when I was only two.
I remember reading through parts of this book as a teen.
I appreciate the new translation and I also appreciate Father Mike's reading of it.
I wanted a hardcopy so that I can go through it in small sections when I want to as it does not have to be read in its entirety to be valuable.
Thank you for updating this classic and making it easier to absorb.

I love this translation of the Imitation. Following along reading while listening to Fr. Mike seems to more than double the clarity of what is written. Then reading it over again later, the memory of hearing his spoken emphasis is really like having Fr. Mike there conversing with me.
Was going to buy the paperback because I have several different translations already, but so glad they were sold out because the hard back is well worth it. Sturdy, not too big or heavy, very clear and good size print and wonderful commentary.

It's a beautiful book and like Fr. Mike's explanations that come after each reading.

If read and pondered, this book can change your life for the good all eternity. I suggest you underline what strikes you and write any inspirational thoughts as you go. Read it slowly and ask the Lord to show you what He wants to say to your heart. This book works well for a group study as well.

The font size is big enough for an older person
The book is not heavy making it easy to read

Easy reading, great commentaries. I live having this book to read along with Fr Mike, but to also read at any time.

Before seeing this book, I always thought that this book would be very hard to read, above my brain scale, but I am understanding the text in this edition so well and getting so much out of it. I do wish there was another way to access the audio lessons. I cannot always get them through the AP, so I end up falling days behind and having to play catch up.

I am so glad I purchased this book from Ascension. Amazing that something written so long ago is so pertinent to my life today. Challenging but inspiring!

And Challenging

My brother always had this on his night table and would read it every day. As a young woman, and glancing at it, I thought he was crazy - this was WAY too hard. Coming to in now, years later, I realize what a gem it is

I am challenged and graced by this book. I am so glad I got the hardback rather than ebook for this one.

I have been wanting to read this book for years but always felt intimidated by it for some reason. Probably because it was an old book that I had and I struggled to get through chapter one. So fast forward and here I am reading it along with Father Mike Schmitz.. I absolute love it and I know I can and will reread it again
and again. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and inspiring book of how to live a life with faith, devotion and to see Jesus everywhere.

I've been following along with Fr. Mike on the Ascension app for the last week. I am enjoying it very much as a person who has found the Catholic Faith later in life(53yrs old), and is going through OCIA and looking forward to Confirmation. That said...I recommend trying listening and reading along with the audio set at 90% speed. Fr. Mike is an enthusiastic speaker and he may talk a bit faster than some can read. 😉. This program is just one of the many blessings I have discovered in this new journey. Get the book and get the Ascension app.

I had a copy of this book and tried several times to read it but, the version was hard to follow. This book is easy to read as well as beautiful and of high quality. The podcast with Fr. Mike has just recently started and my husband and I are going through it together. We find it easy to understand and also like the commentaries after some chapters. Thank you Ascension and Fr. I am enjoying The Imitation of Christ very much. I have listened to this before and found the book difficult to understand. This copy of The Imitation of Christ is very readable.
