Dr. John Zmirak is a Catholic writer, editor, and cultural critic known for his sharp wit and vigorous defense of the faith. A native of Queens, New York, he earned his doctorate in English from Louisiana State University and has served as a college teacher, journalist, and senior editor at The Stream. He is the author of numerous books, including the popular Bad Catholic’s Guide series, which pairs orthodox Catholicism with irreverent humor.
For Ascension, he served as editor of Disorientation: How to Go to College Without Losing Your Mind, assembling leading Catholic thinkers — from Peter Kreeft to Jimmy Akin — to prepare students for the intellectual and moral challenges of campus life, ideology by ideology.
