Deacon Matt Newsome is a Catholic campus minister, author, and preacher who has served at his alma mater, Western Carolina University, since 2008. A convert to Catholicism, he holds a master’s degree in theology from Holy Apostles College & Seminary and was ordained to the permanent diaconate for the Diocese of Charlotte in 2018. He and his wife have seven children.
