Prepare for The Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition

As Ascension prepares to publish The Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition, we are deeply grateful for the many dioceses, seminaries, religious communities, parishes, and institutions that sustain the Church’s life of prayer every day.

We know this transition involves more than simply replacing books. Many communities are planning for budgets, timing, purchasing options, and the needs of members who pray together regularly.

Registering in the Group Purchasing Program allows us to support your planning process and keep your institution informed as ordering details become available.

Additional Need-Based Assistance

Additional Need-Based Assistance

We recognize that some communities may need more support than the standard institutional discount provides.

To help meet those needs, Ascension is developing the Liturgy of the Hours Assistance Fund, a need-based program that will allow contributors to support eligible Catholic institutions with greater financial need. Assistance will not be paid to organizations as cash; instead, approved assistance will be applied by Ascension toward eligible Liturgy of the Hours, Second Edition orders.

Ascension will also support the program by covering ordinary program administration costs and applying a discounts to eligible Assistance Fund orders, allowing contributions to reach more communities.

This program is intended to further ease the financial burden this transition may create for some institutions, allowing communities to preserve their time, energy, and resources for the mission and ministry with which they have been entrusted. It also reflects the communal nature of The Liturgy of the Hours itself—inviting the wider church to support the prayer that faithfully upholds the life of the Church each day.

Institutions needing additional assistance may request consideration by submitting an Assistance Fund application. The application will be shared with registered institutions prior to July 1, and applications will close on August 31, 2026. Institutions who have applied will receive an update on their application status by November 4, 2026.  Assistance is limited and will be reviewed according to program guides, stated need, available funds, and order received.
