I just started to read this book last night . I am really enjoying it . It is easy to read and comprehend. It serves as a focus. Happy I bought it!
In his first published book, Dominick Albano offers us a brief, yet transformative manual for living happy, holy lives in the modern world. As the subtitle indicates, Albano primarily offers us this key to leading happier lives: first, find your purpose.
Although a seemingly heavy task, Albano brings us the logical conclusion that our purpose is to live as beloved children of God, our loving Father. To reach this conclusion, Albano uses a thoughtful combination of practical story telling, research from the fields of psychology and neuroscience, and insights from the best philosophers and theologians throughout the generations. He then distills all of this information into thoughtful, actionable principles for the reader.
I particularity enjoyed the principle called the "Permanent Principle," which offers us a framework to make better decisions in every area of life. In short, this principle asks us to consider the permanence of the task, decision, or relationship were engaging with. We should evaluate these things based on their relation to our ultimate purpose and the multitude of their influence on our lives. Above all, the "Permanent Principle" should help us keep an eternal perspective, a focus "set on things above, not earthly things" (Col. 3:2).
For more of Albano's thoughtful principles on leading a happier, holier life, I highly recommend you read his book, The Fundamental Theory of Happiness.
I loved this book. I read many books about this issue, about happiness. This book will became my favorite on that list. Very practical, clear and deep. I can recommend to anyone searching for a more meaningful life.
