Brian Phillips, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, Texas. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe work depicts in traditional detail the vision of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque,\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003ewherein Christ explained the immense love he has for humanity, appearing with his heart visible outside his chest, on fire, and surrounded by a crown of thorns. \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn this work, the artist employed a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003epseudo-iconographic style, presenting Christ illuminated by divine light, stylized garments, and yet slightly more naturalist facial features, depicting the tender love of Christ, poured out.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e Following the traditional techniques of sacred iconography, the image is “written” in thin layers of glaze from dark to light, and the original features a 24K gold background.
