Good News About Sex & Marriage
In this easy-to-read, question-and-answer book, well-known theologian Christopher West offers a fresh, relevant, and convincing presentation of the Church’s teachings on human sexuality and marriage rooted in Blessed John Paul II’s revolutionary Theology of the Body. A wonderful resource for RCIA, Pre-Cana, and adult faith formation classes. Also available in Spanish.

I have read a few books on the Theology of the Body by John Paul II. This book put it into a practical question and answer format that can help both a life long Catholic or someone going to RCIA.

Great book that answered a lot of questions that I had. I am engaged to be married in 5 months, and a lot of the items my fiance and I had already discussed, but there were some things that we just hadn’t thought about. I highly recommed this book to anyone that is looking ahead at married life.

Wonderful book! It gives the basics of marriage. Sadly, most people don’t know what [the basics of] marriage is. Every Christian should read this because Christianity is very intertwined with marriage. Every person should read it to know what marriage is. Great examples, honest, and great references. I definitely recommend this book.

This book addresses the Catholic Church’s teaching on sex and marriage in a question and answer format. The book is divided into chapters of related questions. It’s a great read straight-through, but it’s also really handy to grab as a quick reference for any question that comes to mind. This book is based on Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. (I’d also highly recommend Christopher West’s “Theology Of The Body For Beginners” for a great overview and explanation of this teaching.)

This book gives a very clear explanation of what the Church believes in words that I could understand. Christopher West did an excellent job of speaking to the individual by using his own life examples but still directing the reader to the teachings of the Church. I would recommend this to anyone, married or single, that is interested or confused or even thinks they know what the Church believes. Everyone can benefit from reading this book.

West explains what the Church really teaches about sex and marriage. Sex is not some shameful, dirty act, nor is it just an act of simple pleasure. It is a way of truly giving one’s entire self to one’s spouse. West goes into what that means, and what the implications are. This book is relevant to people who are married, dating, and even those who have chosen the single life or joined the religious life or priesthood.

The simple truth applied to sex and sexuality based on the gospel proclaimed in its purest form. West’s answers bring peace and insight to all humans of any sexual preference, with real answers.

I can’t say enough great things about this book. I read it after 12 years of marriage, but wish I would have read it as a newlywed – in fact even before we were married! It would make a perfect gift for any Catholic you know getting married and any other Christian that is open to listening. I definitely recommend that everyone read this book. It really tackles all the issues but it does it with love and truth and humor, which make it very ‘digestible’.

As a priest, I use this book with the couples who come to me as they prepare for marriage. It is a brilliant explanation of Pope John Paul II’s already brilliant Theology of the Body. The couples enjoy it, and its accessibility and clarity make it a great resource for anyone looking to learn more about Catholic teaching on sex and marriage.
